Founded in 1987, Finca La Flor is located in Matagalpa near the Jinotega border, nestled on the slopes of the Peñas Blancas mountains just north of La Dalia. Owned by Don Haroldo Altamirano, the farm spans approximately 14 hectares and primarily cultivates Marsellesa and Catimor coffee varieties. Only ripe cherries are hand-picked, with this particular lot processed using the fully washed method. The farm also separates the husk, or “cascara,” to produce a tea-like beverage. The Altamirano family, having faced significant challenges including the impact of hurricanes Eta and Iota in 2020, is actively supporting their community by developing a health clinic for employees and their families. Local leaders and Ernesto have collaborated to provide relief to the region and other affected Central American areas.
